MY DATE WITH THE JUNGLE

‘Tring – Tring’, the lunch bell rang. We all created a pandemonium. We rushed out of class with our lunch – boxes to the canteen. As I opened my box, I saw parathas in one box, sauce in the other and a sweet in the bird box. All hot, dry, spicy (except for my sweet) and delicious food! I had my food at the timetable games after lunch! I was so excited. I picked up my book and started reading it. It was a great story about how we must tackle dogs in wilderness. I was so engrossed and captivated, that I soon fell asleep in to a deep slumber! I woke up after a long time only to find that my friends were missing and the gulmohar leaves were closing. It was 5.30pm and no one was there in the school except the watchmen.

I looked around only to find the darkness stretching above me. I had to rush home, but I had to cross the jungle! The jungle where even a wrestler got scared. A jungle where tress seamed like ghosts! Jungle where the shivalik mountain was behind. I was twitching like an insect, because my life was important. I thought of a plan. I cracked and scratched my head like a monkey! I soon hit upon an idea. I rushed to the second floor, where the bell is rung I quickly took a bell in my hand and took a knife from the school kitchen. I broke open the kitchen window to get hold of that. I then opened my breakfast box and I took a banana from my box (I hadn’t eaten that!). I was jumping up and down. I took a cloth from my craft knapsack. I rushed to the ground floor, and ahead of me, led a graveyard. (I mean the jungle).

I saw a funny sight. The jungle looked black! This incident happened in the winter. So, the sky was dark early. I wanted to have FUN in the jungle. I was armed with loads of things you know. I took the first bold step and felt a monkey tug my sleeve. I quickly gave it a banana! I found that very funny! I was excited. (I know I am a bit eccentric. I like horror and challenging and daring things. (I am funny). I smelt the fresh air and I saw a wild bison cross my path. These animals are there in Shimla High School (my lovely school!). Wild bison did not notice that a bird was on its back and a fly was on the bird’s back and through a microscope, I think I would have seen two germs on the fly’s back. I also saw a black animal. Though I did not go too near it, to date I do not know which animal that was. Could you help met to find that out? I saw I red panda and it was friendly. I also spotted a parakeet sitting on a single blade of grass! It was eating that single blade, I think I was at the middle of this treacherous jungle. I remember a popular English song, “you can see a germ on an elephant and even an elephant on a germ, that is the beauty of the jungle” it meant that even a germ can sit on the elephant and even an elephant could be stamping a germ. The jungle was funny!

Now, I was near the school gate. I had made a few friends, seen a few funny spectacles and I had also seen my enemies I loved the jungle. I never had to use my bell to scare a rhino or two! I marched across the last huge path of the jungle and reached the gate. My mother was atrociously waiting there and she screamed at me. “Why are you so late?” I told her the full story. She remarked,” the animals were kind to you because you use the natural sources judiciously”. That was sarcastic because I had wasted water the other day. “FUNNY, mom” I joked. While the jungle had bid good – bye to me, I had bid good – bye to the wastage of water!
