SCHOOLS TOURNEYS & RESULTS

As far as we know, the 1st School specific Scrabble Tourney in India was held in July 2000 at St. Joseph's (Central) High School, Vijayanagar, Mysore. Children of St. Joseph's (state) High School, Jayalakshmi Pura, Mysore also took part in the Tourney. The tourney was preceded by SCRABBLE CLINICS conducted at the both the Schools by the local Zygo Clubs. The credit for the same should go to the Principals Ms. JOYCE LOBO (Central) and Mr. SAHAYARAJ (State) .

52 (Fifty two) Children from standard V to standard X participated in the Tourney. We had a great time watching them blossom from game to game. (Children were greatly pleased to find their Principal's name LOBO as an entry in OSPD and were amused by the meaning assigned to it.

For us, it was a privilege to witness the Children get down to the nitty gritty of word building. It was a wonderful experience - meeting the Principals, Teachers and watching the children - in quiet action. We are indebted to the Principals and Teachers
