10TH NATIONAL WORD FEST FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN OF INDIA |
The 10th Nationals were to be held from 27th Dec, 09 to 30th Dec, 09 at Secunderabad, AP. However, the event had to be shifted to Chennai in view of the troubled state of affairs in Hyderabad and truncated to two days – 9th and 10th Jan, 2010. Inter - school Team Championship could not be held. |
Sadhana Smruthi of Balavidyamandir, Adyar, Chennai got the first rank in Grade I and Ruthuparan of the same school got the second rank and the best speaker’s prize. Sanjana Marda of the same school bagged the trophy for Speltz.

The find of the tourney was Miss. R. Niveditha of Balavidyamandir, Adyar, Chennai. Despite playing the Nationals for the first time without any coaching background, she gave jitters to the eventual champ and lost by a narrow margin. Omkar Vasavamba of J.S.S. Public school, Mysore got the first rank but the toast of the tourney was R. Niveditha. Miss. Smruthi Bhaskar of Balavidayamandir bagged the best speaker’s prize. Miss. Sharanya Rao of M.P.V. School, Mysore was simply not misspelling and got the Speltz trophy. |
Mr. Srinivasan Desikan of Chennai was kind enough to arrange the venue, free of charge, at St. Thomas Mount and also provided logistic support. Mrs. Mahalakshmi and Mrs. Tulasi of Chennai, Mrs. Lakshmi of Bangalore and Mrs. Archana of Hosur were the evaluators. They did a splendid job. Zygo Scrabble Clubs are beholden to the children, parents and evaluators. |
